Lactoferrina
Milk protein that binds iron and has antimicrobial activity. Several meta-analyses, mainly in pregnancy, find 100-250 mg/day improves haemoglobin and ferritin as well as or better than ferrous sulphate, with fewer stomach side effects. Trials are few and of mixed quality.
What is it for?
💡 Absorption: Take on an empty stomach or before meals.
⚠️ Caution: Milk-derived: not suitable for cow's milk protein allergy (usually fine with lactose intolerance). Anaemia should be diagnosed and followed by a doctor.
